Pankaj Kumar

Pankaj Kumar holds a degree in Geoinformation Science and Earth Observation from ITC, The Netherlands (2007) and doctorate in Geocomputation from Maynooth University, Ireland (2012). He is working as Researcher at Geodesy and Navigation Department in Geomatics Division of the Centre Tecnologic de Telecomunicacions de Catalunya since September, 2016. He worked as Postdoctoral Researcher (2012-2013) at Maynooth University and then Postdoctoral Researcher (2014-2015) & Senior Lecturer (2015-2016) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. During these years, his work has been focussed on mobile mapping technology, LiDAR point cloud, digital imaging, data integration, objects segmentation and information modelling. He has developed several algorithms to automatically extract road and building features from aerial and terrestrial mobile LiDAR point cloud datasets using advanced numerical modelling techniques. He has published research papers in several international journals, conference proceedings and workshops. Apart from this, he was involved in supervision and teaching GIS related courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He was organising and scientific committee members for various international conferences and acted as referee for different international journals: ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, Sensors, Remote Sensing, Journal of Surveying Engineering, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters, IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observation and Remote Sensing etc. He was involved in various research projects which were funded by Science Foundation Ireland, European Commission and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
